Helen lists many ideas for self-improvement in Sex and the Single Girl and she also stresses, repeatedly, the fact that single ladies have the time and resources to explore all sorts of aspects of life that women who are married and have children do not—which in turn motivated me to explore even more ideas of my own. As a result, I found myself not only enrolled in French class and making pottery but also learning to windsurf and force-feeding myself protein shakes and vitamins from Lindberg, a place Helen herself went to when she was younger. I also visited a voice coach and life coach (note: don’t listen to the life coach file if you really like swearing).
