Recover Girl is a consulting company focused on clients within the addiction and recovery space. My aim is to help fulfill editorial, strategy and marketing needs—even and perhaps especially needs that the company didn’t realize it had.
With the help of a small team, I look at each client individually, analyzing the specific company’s needs and meeting them. I bring over two decades of editorial experience—as a New York Times bestselling author of six books about addiction and relationships and someone who has published hundreds of articles on addiction and relationships in publications like The New York Times, The LA Times, Time Magazine, Redbook, Cosmo, Teen Vogue, Buzzfeed, The Huffington Post and many more, I well understand the needs and desires of the mainstream media. But more relevantly, as someone who has worked in the addiction and recovery space for the past decade—first as an editor at The Fix and then as the CEO/Editor-in-Chief of RehabReviews.com and AfterPartyMagazine—I can assess how and where the industry fits into the mainstream media landscape.
Okay, cool. So what do clients have to say?
“It’s not every day that you get to work with a New York Times bestselling author on your company branding and copy. It’s also not every day that you can find someone as familiar with the recovery industry as she is with mainstream media. Working with Anna was invaluable: she was able to take the ideas we knew we wanted to get across and craft them into the ideal message. If you work with her, she will take you to the next level.”
-Kimberly James, Owner/Founder, The Beach House Malibu and CEO of Malibu Beach Sober Living
“We have worked with Anna for years in showcasing and promotional events for the store. It has always been a joy and most importantly, excellent results were achieved.”
-RJ Holguin, Director, My 12 Step Store
“Anna has a motor like no one else; she just doesn’t stop. And after working with her closely, I’ve figured out why: she truly loves what she does. She is one of the most experienced, creative and hard-working people I’ve ever met. This talent, drive and grit add up to one of the brightest minds I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with.”
-Dr. Joshua Lichtman, Medical Director, Refuge Recovery Centers
Recover Girl has three additional media components:
Recover Girl podcast (formerly AfterPartyPod): A bi-weekly show that highlights actors, writers, comedians and more on addiction and sobriety, Recover Girl has featured interviews with Moby, Marc Maron and other terribly impressive people whose names don’t begin with M.
Hammered Time Storytelling: A bi-monthly show at Open Space Café in West Hollywood (457 N. Fairfax) where comedians and writers tell tales of their former drug and alcohol-related debauchery.
